Privacy Policy

What this website collects, why, and who handles it. Effective September 2, 2026.

Scope

What this policy covers.

This policy describes what policeexpertwitnesses.com collects when you visit it or send an inquiry through it, why that information is collected, and who handles it. The site is published by Gilbertson Investigations Inc., a police practices expert witness practice based in Naples, Florida. It is written for attorneys, law firms and their staff, and inquiries are accepted from them only.

This page is about the website. Once a matter is retained, the handling of the case record is governed by the written retention agreement with counsel, not by this page.

Inquiries

What an inquiry form sends, and where it goes.

The counsel inquiry form on each page asks for your name, firm, email address, phone number, the capacity in which you would retain (for example plaintiff, defense or criminal defense), the case type, the jurisdiction or court, the procedural posture, any deadline, and a brief description of the matter. The form also records which page it was sent from, so the inquiry arrives labelled with the practice area you were reading.

The submission is delivered by email to the firm. It travels through Web3Forms, a form-delivery service that relays website forms to an inbox; the firm's copy lives in its own email. A copy also reaches Kelly Webmasters and Marketers, the firm that builds and maintains this site, so that it can confirm the forms are working and the inquiry was not lost.

The firm uses what you send to run its conflict check and to respond to you. It does not sell or rent inquiry information, and it does not add you to a mailing list. Inquiry emails are kept with the firm's conflict-check and engagement records, because an expert must be able to show which matters were screened and when.

Send nothing privileged with a first inquiry. The site's own guidance on what a first inquiry should and should not contain is at The First Inquiry: What to Send an Expert. Calling or emailing the firm directly is handled the same way, with no form service in between.

Measurement

Google Analytics and Google Ads.

The site uses Google Analytics to understand how it is used: which pages are viewed, on what kind of device and browser, from what general area (an approximate location that Google derives from the connection), and from what source, such as a search engine or a direct visit. It also records two events: that a phone link was tapped, and that an inquiry form was sent. The event records that the action happened, not what was said or typed.

The firm advertises on Google Search. The Google tag on this site also records when an inquiry follows a click on one of those ads, so the firm can judge whether its advertising is worth what it costs. To do this, Google sets cookies in your browser, such as the cookie named _ga. Google describes how it handles this data in its own privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from measuring you at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

The site's own counter

A first-party visit count, without identities.

Separately from Google, a small script on each page sends a count to a private counter kept by the site's maintainer. It reports the page path, the type of event (a page view, a phone tap, an email tap, or a form sent), a source category such as search engine, direct or advertising campaign, the device class (phone, tablet or desktop), whether the browser has visited before, and whether the page was the first one opened in the visit.

The counter stores totals only. It records no name, no email address and no IP address, and it sets no cookie. The returning-visitor flag and the source category are held in your own browser's storage, where the counter cannot read them back. Dated totals expire after 180 days; per-page totals are kept as lifetime aggregates. Nothing about you individually can be recovered from it.

The Clerk

The on-page assistant runs in your browser.

The Clerk, the assistant that opens at the corner of each page, has no free-text field and transmits nothing. It assembles its guidance from the published fee schedule and discovery list, in your browser. What it remembers between pages is held in your browser's session storage and cleared when the tab is closed, apart from a single note in local storage that records that you dismissed its prompt.

Delivery

Fonts, hosting, and outbound links.

The typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google, which receives that request, including your IP address, under Google's privacy policy.

The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes connection data such as IP addresses in order to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare describes this at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

The Facebook link in the footer is an ordinary link. No Facebook code runs on this site. Links to courts, publishers and other outside sites lead to pages governed by their own policies.

Cookies

What is set, and how to refuse it.

The site itself sets no cookies. The Google tag described above does. You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on. The site works fully with cookies blocked, including the inquiry forms and the phone and email links.

Your choices

Questions, corrections, and deletion.

To ask what the firm holds from an inquiry you sent, to correct it, or to have it deleted, write to GregoryGilbertson@proton.me or call (239) 571-1840. The firm will respond. Where a conflict-check record has to be retained so that the firm can show a matter was screened, it will tell you so and keep only what that requires. If a law in your state gives you particular rights over this information, say so in your message and the firm will respond accordingly.

This site is not directed to children, and the firm does not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen.

Changes

Effective date.

This policy is effective September 2, 2026. If it changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new date. Questions about it go to GregoryGilbertson@proton.me.
